Objectives:
Healthcare is the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in humans. u-Healthcare is a relatively recent term for healthcare practice via information technology. Philosophical propositions of u-healthcare should be based on diverse disciplines and various perspectives. The aim of this study is to introduce, analyze, and propose the concept of integrated u-healthcare design.
Method:
Literature review was conducted to analyze and derive the concept of integrated u-healthcare design. To propose philosophical propositions, the correlation between universal design and publicness was analyzed in the literature.
Results:
Integrated u-healthcare design is the composite concept that includes aesthetics, complex, and universal design characteristics. The concept derived from the literature considers the principles of universal design based on the various layers of publicness. From the perspectives of medical humanities, the concept also has social aesthetics with diversity and the characteristics of user-centered universality.
Conclusions:
Taken together, integrated u-healthcare design is the philosophical medium for communicating between users; therefore, it may expand the communication channel of diverse users from the multidisciplinary perspectives. Implications for future research include the need to analyze the characteristics of nomadic design considering the principles of universal design.
